Student Visa 101
REQUIREMENTS

Before you apply for your studies in Australia there are a few requirements that you need to take into consideration. This usually includes a general set of documents required according to your level of study. However, some specialist courses might require different test results, extra circular activities and documents. The general list includes the following:

English language requirements

Any institute in Australia will require a general English test score, except on the occasion of enrolling into a General English course first. For all other students, institutes will accept English test scores from the following providers. The English language scores vary depending on the institutions and courses.

  • IELTS (above 5.5 - 6.5 in all bands)
  • PTE (above 50-57 in all bands)
  • TOFEL (above 59 in all bands)

There are a lot of centres out there that provide classes for these tests, this helps an individual who is not confident with their English skills to practice and learn English on an academic level in order to prepare for their education in Australia.

Academic requirements

Academic requirements will depend on which level of study you are planning to do in Australia. If you are looking for a Masters program you will need to show the necessary qualifications in your bachelor. A minimum requirement also needs to be met depending on the institution. This can be anywhere between a total mark of 65% to 85%.

Visa requirements

Many students do not anticipate the amount of paperwork required to apply for a student visa. They are also confused over how accurate the information they are being fed is.
